Observer

Like most other newspapers in the country, Charlotte Observer is insanely biased to the left. So I stopped my subscription years back. I hadn't relented no matter what channel they try to market to me. Finally last week, I relented to a young school kid marketing at my doorstep.

Would they disappoint me? Of course not. Still the same. I can pick any article and instantly see the bias. Here is a sample:

Headline on the first day I got the paper back: 17% of State Bridges need inspection; funding has been issue. For Government incompetence, when was the last time funding was not the issue but government employees were? Be it lousy service at DMV or pathetic standard of public education, or any, it is always "funding issue". When a Business is in trouble, they restructure and don't usually pump more money into a failing venture. When a Government agency/program performs poorly, the solution is to pump more money into it? glaring example is public schools.

Now that I get newspaper, Srinidhi is pondering why they don't deliver it in the mail box but throw it on the driveway; "appa, do they throw it like a frisbee so that it lands gently?"...hmm...

BTW: For the 17% bridges needing inspection, do overtime. At work, we are often asked to put in an additional 10, 20 or even 30% or more work to get over the hump. Govt employees can't do that??

Welcome Sai Nikil ! (Yes, I am back !!)

Yes, I am back after several months... Hope to be regular again...

We have a new addition to our family... My brother Kannan's first baby was born on 6/6/07, Sai Nikil.

Welcome Sai Nikil. It is so amazing how much you look like your dad. I haven't seen you in person yet, but I see Kannan all over your face. Srinidhi and Vanathi know about you, 'Thambi'.
