Beach Trip 2006
Towards end of summer we made our beach trip to Wrightsville Beach. It was just a one day trip, out in the morning and back at night. Invariably we don't travel light. We pack our car with more stuff than we end up using in every trip. This trip was no exception. Toys to keep the kids busy, stroller and other usual suspects, lot of food, Pulisatham, Idli etc and we were prepared to stay overnight if we have to. As usual Srinidhi was not interested in the toys. He was either busy conversing with us, watching outside or sleeping. Srinidhi always cooperates well when we travel. He never complained about sitting in the car seat. In contrast, Ammu is not fond of sitting in the car seat. Now-a-days she shows lot of interest to sit forward facing. It looks like once we change her to forward facing car seat this month, she might enjoy.
It was a fun trip. Just the day before, Srinidhi watched an episode of Jay-Jay the Jet plane that talked about five senses and in fact one of Jay-Jay's friends will go to the beach to experience them. So all the way he was talking about what senses he will experience at the beach; the sense of sight that he will use to see ships far away; the sense of hearing he will use to listen to the waves; the sense of smell he will use to smell the fish; the sense of touch he will use to feel the sand and the shells; the smell of taste we told him from the salty taste of the ocean water. When we reached, he was excited to feel and share with us each one of those. He had fun building his sand castle and getting into the water with us.
This was Ammu's first trip to the beach. She thoroughly enjoyed it. We let her explore the wet sand and feel the water. She loved feeling it and sometimes tasting it :-) On more than one occasion, she was quicker than us and learned the sense of taste of sand :-))
